Canopy Tours Experience the thrill of a 2.5 hour canopy tour through the Ysterhout Kloof. Set in the 2,400 year old Magaliesberg Mountains, this tour comprises 11 platforms built high on the rock faces of the Kloof and joined by 10 slides up to 140meters long and 30meters above the stream below. Trained guides assure the safety of the participant while describing interesting facts about the ancient mountain, surrounding ecology, bird and animal life. De Wildt Wild Cheetah Project Visit the De Wildt Cheetah project and see how Ann van Dyk in conjunction with the South African National Parks, have managed to save the Cheetah from extinction and remove them from the endangered list. An educational tour conducted in an open vehicle, you get to see the animals at close quarters. Because of the success of their programme, this has now been extended to include the Wild Dogs and the Brown Hyena, both these species are also in need of revival, collecting information of how they live is very important, if we are to make a difference in their survival which includes their breeding and reintroduction back into their natural habitat. Length of tour is 6 hours.
Elephant Sanctuary – Interaction, Hartbeespoort Dam Nestled in the Magaliesberg Mountains, 1 hour from Johannesburg and Pretoria, 4 km from the Hartbeespoort Dam. The sanctuary lies in natural indigenous bush and is home to local species impala, klipspringer, baboons, porcupine, and a host of other small animals and birds. This is a ‘hands on elephant experience’ conducted on foot you will have the opportunity to walk and interact with these majestic creatures, touching and feeling the hair on their bodies and experience the language of communication. Your understanding of elephants will be changed forever. This is a Malaria-free area. Length of tour is 5 hours
