Historical Sites to visit The route to the royal area of Lobamba, which is regarded as the Kingdoms’ spiritual home and is the centre of government. The Houses of Parliament, the National Museum & King Sobhuza11 Memorial Park, the National Archives and the Somholo National Stadium are all located in this area.
The National Museum gives valuable insight into Swazi tradition and their cultural festivities such as the Ncwala and Umhlanga ceremonies. It also deals with the history of the Royal family and how this traditional environment survives in this modern world.
King Sobhuza11 Memorial Park King Sobhuza11 influence in modern day Swaziland was enormous, and his role in leading this principality from being a British Protectorate to full independence can never be underestimated.
Milwane Wildlife Sanctuary Once the hunting ground of the Swazi king’s it is open to the visitors and is the pioneer nature reserve. The sanctuary is 4,500 hectares in size and it has both walking trails, mountain biking and trails on horseback.
Places of Interest Ngwenya Glassworks and Swazi Candles are worth a visit. The Manzini Market is worth a visit, it is a peoples market and a hive of activity on Saturdays. In the Malkerns district there is also Mantenga Craft, Baobab Batiks, Rosecraft Mohair manufacturers and the Shiba Weavers.
